Engineering FAQ

Technical & Procurement Questions

Direct answers from our senior laser applications engineers and quality inspectors.

Will your laser marks survive repeated autoclave cycles and chemical passivation?

Yes. Unlike surface etching or ink printing, our surgical laser annealing process does not ablate material or create micro-crevices. The laser beam selectively drives thermal oxidation under the transparent passive chromium-oxide layer, generating a dark, high-contrast black mark that remains chemically inert and survives over 1,000 autoclave steam cycles, ultrasonic baths, and nitric/citric acid passivation.

How does Lumicision verify GS1 DataMatrix and UDI barcode readability?

Every serialized production run is verified using ISO/IEC 15415 and AIM DPM compliant optical verification hardware. We grade symbol contrast, modulation, grid non-uniformity, and axial non-uniformity to guarantee Grade A or B verification scores, ensuring seamless scanner readability throughout the clinical product lifecycle.

Can you provide hermetic seals for implantable medical electronics?

Yes. Our continuous wave and pulsed fiber laser welding stations operate inside sealed inert gloveboxes with ultra-pure Argon/Helium shielding. We achieve defect-free, full-penetration hermetic seams that exceed MIL-STD-883 and ASTM vacuum leak testing standards.

What quality documentation and traceability accompany medical orders?

Every shipment includes a signed ISO 9001:2015 Certificate of Conformance (CoC), material test reports (MTR) confirming chemical heat analysis, and complete serialization inspection logs linking each part to its machine cycle and raw material heat number.
